An “invitation” to develop a proposal

If you
proceed with this, here are my thoughts for your consideration:
1.0: SAIC
will not prime your proposal [1].
2.0: If
you wanted my participation in your workshop, or some other SAIC participation,
that is possible and would be an honor.
3.0: I
will not participate in proposal preparation.
If asked, I would read and offer comments on the final draft.
4.0: Your
prime could be a
5.0: You
should have somebody else write it, one who speaks on behalf of an open
question that is formulated in terms used by somebody who has published in
mainstream literature. It should
contain not the slightest hint of your belief, however well founded, that there
is a political and intellectual conspiracy.
6.0: You
should be cast as a participant and not the convenor.
7.0: When
you have the open question stated, make sure you have some of the top,
recognized names recruited. You can
avoid the enemies, but include some people who are outside those whom you have
been addressing.
[1] SAIC primed two previous proposals developed by Prueitt, and submitted as an SAIC/Ontologystream proposal. One of these was deemed fundable by peer review but not funded. The other was set aside without comment. See: A Communication Instrument
