The BCNGroup Beadgames

An “invitation” to develop a proposal

Paul,

This program funds high-minded workshops:

If you proceed with this, here are my thoughts for your consideration:

1.0: SAIC will not prime your proposal [1].

2.0: If you wanted my participation in your workshop, or some other SAIC participation, that is possible and would be an honor.

3.0: I will not participate in proposal preparation.  If asked, I would read and offer comments on the final draft.

4.0: Your prime could be a W VA institution, creating a clear implication of political support.

5.0: You should have somebody else write it, one who speaks on behalf of an open question that is formulated in terms used by somebody who has published in mainstream literature.  It should contain not the slightest hint of your belief, however well founded, that there is a political and intellectual conspiracy.

6.0: You should be cast as a participant and not the convenor.

7.0: When you have the open question stated, make sure you have some of the top, recognized names recruited.  You can avoid the enemies, but include some people who are outside those whom you have been addressing.

[1]  SAIC primed two previous proposals developed by Prueitt, and submitted as an SAIC/Ontologystream proposal.  One of these was deemed fundable by peer review but not funded.  The other was set aside without comment.  See: A Communication Instrument
