Surface and deep knowledge
Representation of information in context has an ontogeny (*). In fact, one may have a discussion on genotype and phenotype, in relationship to processes in general. When the process is a process of acquiring and using knowledge, then we have a special topic of interest.
Knowledge acquisition is often not about the "thing" that produces causes, but rather about the developmental course of some set of deeper generators. It is most often knowledge acquisition about surface process.
Knowledge acquisition, when viewed from general principles, is generally too near-term to be useful in getting at "what is going on".
We can easily see that surface knowledge and passing the time of day is 95% of knowledge sharing activity in groups. Knowledge acquisition IS FOR the purpose of socialization, communication and passing the time of day.
Again, seen from general principles, most awareness is merely about process experience, as opposed to understanding causes or essential natures.
This is an important insight. For this insight, much can be explained about why the market space rejects deep innovations in knowledge sciences.
We often give the impression that we are talking about genomic type knowledge. Very little of what we have done up to now is about genomic knowledge.
Of course, this fact reflects our culture - which has the luxury of being preoccupied with surface processes (the RESULTS of expressions of things that are genomic).
There is a difference (de facto) between surface knowledge and deep knowledge. However, surface knowledge helps to produce economic and value. So we expect Business-to-Business investments to exploit those technologies that aid in the sharing of knowledge. (*).
