OntologyStream.com, TelArt
Technologies, and the BCN Group
are jointly sponsoring a world wide
review of all categories of
Indexing,
Routing and Retrieval technologies.
This review
will involve the following:
A.1:
A physical sorting of all Tipster, TREC and Information Retrieval literatures
that are accumulated in OntologyStream's Virginia office.
A.1.1:
A database (FoxPro) of relevant email addresses will be developed so that
addresses can be validated and a memo field made available to place
correspondence.
A.1.2:
Requests, from the OntologyStream, for participational interest will be send to
these e-mail addresses.
A.2:
Categories will be developed to place technologies : Possible categories as by example
{ topic maps and ontologies, Latent Semantic Indexing, Virtual graph databases,
Bayesian type indexing}
A.3:
The category theory will be a formal rough category structure
A.3.1:
The categorization of technology will be in line with the Prueitt
voting procedure
A.3.1.1:
The voting procedure will be used to place and represent technology
representation overlapped as a rough set. Thus the form of technology categorization will itself be a test
of an advanced theory of categorization, routing and retrieval.
A.3.1.2:
As rough sets are not well known, the OntologyStream will develop a simple web
based navigation of technology profiles so that Evaluation Participants can
review the placement and make objections to placement.
A.3.2:
The navigation or the review process is of a simple design and will be shown as
a simplified Application Server Page (ASP) implementation of a routing
technology for web pages containing descriptions of participant technology.
A.3.2:
The navigational system is prototyped in the BCN Group work on a Glass Bead Game.
A.4:
A small but semantically rich test collection is made available on request.
A.4.1:
We will use a non-copyrighted collection of
312 Aesop Fables

NOTE: The Aesop Fable
collection is not be amenable to common statistical Indexing Routing and
Retrieval technologies. This is by design, as these types of technologies where
extensively evaluated in the TREC and Tipster programs (funded by CIA and DARPA
– 1990 - 1998). However, a larger test collection will be acquired to test
Indexing, Routing and Retrieval (IRR) technologies that need a large test
corpus.
